How many years have you been in the Power Connections and Solutions business?

28 years. I started right out of school, discovered I really loved the industry, and have met lots of great people along the way.

Which of your accomplishments would be most impressive to your 18-year-old self?

When I started, I came in at an entry level position and worked my way up the ladder. I held nearly every job there is. After years of hard work and learning, I became President/Owner of a large, multi-million dollar engineering services business

What makes you most valuable to your customers?

Commitment to completing projects, but also completing them safely. You just can’t take any shortcuts when it comes to safety. I also enjoy working through any challenges that come up. I love to solve problems for my customers.

What’s something not in your job description that relates to why you’re so successful?

Two key things I’ve learned from two key people in my life: work hard and be other-centered. God and my father have instilled these in me from day one. My goal is for all our hard work to ultimately make our customer look like a hero – and to make God and my Dad smile, too.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I enjoy spending time with my family water skiing, relaxing in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and playing sports. And we love to root for the University of Florida Gators, too.

What is your favorite charity?

My wife Sarah and I love supporting the NO MORE Foundation, a non-profit faith based ministry with a vision to see the body of Christ educated, mobilized, and empowered to be the hands and feet of Jesus, answering the Matthew 25:35 call to ‘care for the least of these.’ NO MORE is a battle cry for the church and a personal declaration that we have seen take root in the lives of believers as they have responded to the heart of God. I encourage you to check out their website here.

What is your favorite industry memory?

A few years ago, after a switchgear explosion, we were hired to restore power for a pharmaceutical plant in Puerto Rico. They manufactured drugs to fight a rare disease. So without power, patients who depended on the drug could die. In addition, the plant employed 300 workers. Without power, the plant was shut down and interrupted job income for those workers. While we were working on the repair, many of the people in the community were gathered outside. When we turned the power back on and exited the plant, the crowd was so excited that they were applauding, dancing, and cheering. It still gives me goosebumps to remember how we were able to make a difference.
